At September 28, 2011, Ikatan Pecinta Batik Nusantara supported by Indonesian Ministry of Cultural and Tourism, just held an event named Pemilihan Putra Putri Batik Nusantara 2011. Many other media has mentioned about the details of the programme. Now, I want to share another point of view of this competition, as I was one of this year’s finalist.
So, the committee said the received-applicants are more than 500. They made it in to 60 semifinalists. The semifinalists were interviewed by 5 judges (including Ms. Tantie Koestantia, Ms. Ayu Dyah Pasha, Mr. Ivan Fadilla, Mr. Zae Hanan, and a great judge mastering his cultural and batik knowledge). Based on the interview, they called 28 finalists (14 boys-14 girls) to be announced as the finalist. The name of the finalist of this year competition are mentioned in the Putra Putri Batik Nusantara 2011.
At September 25, 2011, for the first time, all of the finalist met and started our debriefing-preparation to the final night. In three days, we were given so much knowledge regarding to Batik Indonesia and many kinds of provision to become young ambassador. There were Personality Development by Ms. Tika Bisono, History & Application of Batik by Ms. Neneng Iskandar, Grooming by Ms. Ellen Tendean, Etiquette & Table Manner by Ms. Ayu Dyah Pasha, Batik in Fashion by Ms. Carmanita, Narcotics and Drugs Prevention by Brigjen Pol. Dr. Benny J. Mamoto, Beauty Class by sponsor, Public Speaking by Mr. Zae Hanan and native speaker, many sessions of Choreography class by Mr. Alam Zainuri and team, and the most interesting class is Batik Workshop in Museum Tekstil Jakarta. At September 26, we also had our chance to show our talent in Malam Keakraban held in Poste Kitchen and Resto, Kuningan, Jakarta. The judges were there and tested the finalists through questions.
The final night was in Balai Kartini Jakarta, at September 28, 2011. It’s also broadcasted on national TV. The 28 finalists were selected into Top 7 (7 boy-7 girls), then each of the Top 4 were asked a question. The top 4 is Sigit Pramono (Sragen), Iqbal Nurman (Jakarta), Muhammad Cipta Suhada (Jakarta), Asran Aga Shady (Bandung), Ismi Halida (Jakarta), Sheila Purnama Bulan (Jakarta), Sekar Sari (Yogyakarta), and Chelsy (Tangerang). All of us were answered in a very clear and incredibly amazing, someone were testified.
At the end of the final night, pronounced the winner of Pemilihan Putra Putri Batik Nusantara 2011.

- Putri Batik Nusantara 2011: Sheila Purnama Bulan (Jakarta)
Congratulations to all finalist of Pemilihan Putra Putri Batik Nusantara 2011. Nothing much to say, I know all of us has the same vision about Batik Indonesia. This is our time to be proud of our wonderful culture. Learn how to make batik using your own hand, learn the history and philosophy of the pattern, and trust me, you will start your investment in preserve and making Batik Indonesia in to a greater step of heritage.
